To My Subscribers

First, I want to thank everyone who has subscribed to this substack.

I began this primarily as a repository for the essays I believe would have enduring value. Well, that’s my own subjective opinion, of course. I never thought to ask for paid subscriptions because I write only when I am moved to write and I could never guarantee anything.

There are already many excellent news aggregators and analysts, but this kind of thing is not my focus.

Over the past month, out of the blue, several people have come forward wishing to make pledges and to subscribe: I was both shocked and touched, and am grateful for such generosity. As a result I have added a ‘paid subscription’ or donation category now.

I can’t sell ice water in the Sahara, so this is not about money. But I like coffee, and if anybody wants to donate towards my coffee addiction, feel free.

Meanwhile I will try to do what I have been doing, which is to lend my own voice to topics that move to express.
